BLOOMINGTON– A major endowment from a former student at Illinois Wesleyan University is being called a transformative gift for Wesleyan as a whole.
Gene Nuziard and his wife Marilyn are establishing an eight figure endowment that will support student scholarships at the University.
Nuziard graduated from IWU in 1950 and says the attention he received from Illinois Wesleyan faculty and staff helped him prepare to thrive in the business world – because of that he says it’s time to give back.
Nuziard’s post graduate career saw him work his way up in the commercial baking industry to executive vice president of ITT Continental Baking Company where he managed the entire Hostess Cake Division.
He was honored in 1997 with the Illinois Wesleyan Distinguished Alumni Award.
