NORMAL – Illinois State football has officially added 11 players and three mid-year transfers on Wednesday’s national signing day.
The signees include a quarterback, two tight ends, five linebackers, a defensive back, a defensive end, two running backs, a wide receiver and a two-way player.
Redbird coach Brock Spack said this portion of the signing class is well-rounded.
“We added a couple of transfers that we think can help our program immediately,” Spack said. “We have some good young players here that I think will develop into being really good college players.”
Spack expects even more additions during the second signing period in February.
“There are some things we’d like to get addressed during the second go-round,” Spack said. “There are some guys out there that we really, really like that we’re still recruiting that haven’t made up their minds yet that we’re hoping to sign in February.”
Spack said the new group has plenty of talent.
“The good news is a couple of these transfers we knew very well and we’ve recruited before,” Spack said. “From that standpoint, I really like where we’re at.”
