BLOOMINGTON – A man considered “armed and dangerous” is still on the loose after fleeing from Bloomington Police and causing a multi-car crash Sunday night at G.E. Road and Veterans Parkway.

Floyd Brown, 39, of Springfield allegedly ran from the crash scene.

Police said they were investigating a series of burglaries on the city’s east and southeast side, and Brown had been linked to a Sunday evening home break-in in the 3200 block of Dorset Ct.

The chase began in the 900 block of Arcadia Drive where Brown allegedly drove off in a black Dodge Charger.

Officers said Brown was driving without headlights, and they lost contact with him. He allegedly turned north on Veterans off East Oakland Avenue, driving at a very high rate of speed before crashing into the other cars.

Police said no one suffered life-threatening injuries. However, authorities think Brown may have been hurt.

Police said Brown has no known connections to Bloomington-Normal, but may have been trying to find a ride back to Springfield.

Brown is a light-skinned black man, 5′ 10″ tall, with long black hair and brown eyes.

Police said anyone who sees Brown should not approach him.

Anyone with information about Brown is asked to call Bloomington Police at 9-1-1, or the non-emergency line at 309-820-8888.

Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact McLean County Crime Stoppers at 309-828-1111.

The Crime Stoppers organization pays rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Is federal mobilization the answer?

By Mike Matejka As President Donald Trump threatens to send federal marshals into Chicago, over the objections of Illinois Governor J.B. In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
