Pritzker sworn in as Illinois’ 43rd governor

SPRINGFIELD – Get used to hearing this phrase: Governor Pritzker.

The new governor hit all his high spots in Monday’s inaugural speech: graduated income tax, fifteen dollar minimum wage, infrastructure, teacher pay, legal pot. And he took a whack at his predecessor, outgoing Gov. Bruce Rauner, on stage over his right shoulder.

“Be clear about this: I won’t balance the budget on the backs of the starving, the sick, and the suffering,” he said.

At least Rauner showed up. Attending the inaugural of the man who defeated him was a courtesy former Gov. Pat Quinn did not extend to Rauner four years ago.
