NORMAL – Illinois State football has added 13 commitments to its 2019 recruiting class on Wednesday’s signing day.
“Our staff worked very, very hard,” Redbird football coach Brock Spack said. “We have two signing days now and we hold some scholarships back for the second period. We had some pretty good players land in our lap and we’re pretty excited about that.”
Spack said recruiting is always uncertain, but he feels this is the best recruiting class in his 10 years in Normal.
“You hope you make the right decision because they are young people and you don’t know how they’re going to develop,” Spack said. “We’ve done pretty well here in the last 10 years and we’ve put some pretty good teams out there and have had good players, and we see our talent continue to improve.”
The 2019 recruiting class includes six linebackers, three running backs and offensive linemen, two quarterbacks, tight ends and wide receivers, one fullback, one defensive end, one kicker/punter and four designated as athletes.
