James Kiper
COLFAX – James Roland Kiper, 72, Colfax, died at 11:55 am Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his residence in Colfax.
Jim was born August 2, 1946 in Bloomington, IL the son of Edgar F. and Anna Saddler Kiper. He married Nancy Durflinger on July 5, 1985 in Cooksville, IL. She survives in Colfax.
Also surviving is one son, Travis Waterman, Colfax, one grandson, Aiden Waterman, Colfax, siblings, Edgar F. Kiper Jr., Hudson, KY, Barbara Spurling, Bloomington, IL, Thomas (Sharon) Kiper, Leitchfield, KY, Brenda (Mike) Morgan, Gridley, IL, sister-in-law, Marilyn Kiper, Radcliff, KY and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Kiper and one brother-in-law, Gary Spurling.
Jim served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his service to our country.
Jim was a 35 year employee at Interlake Steel, Pontiac.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Burial will take place in Calvert Community Church Cemetery, McDaniels, KY with full military rites at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to the Davis-Kerber American Legion, Colfax or the Colfax Christian Church.
