LINCOLN – Illinois State Police officers are in a pursuit with an armed and dangerous suspect wanted in McLean County.
According to a news release, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s office responded to the Extended Stay America in Rockford, for a call to assist U.S. Marshals agents in reference to a report of shots fired around 9:15 a.m.
State Rep. John Cabello (R-Machesney Park), who is also a Rockford police detective said the suspect fled the scene after shooting an officer.
“The shooting took place and the suspect shot one of the deputies and jumped out of a three-story window out of the hotel,” said Cabello. “(He) got into his vehicle and fled the scene.”
Officers were attempting to arrest 39-year old Floyd Brown, of Springfield, with an outstanding McLean County warrant.
The suspect is currently stationary inside of his vehicle on I-55 in the South Bound lane at MP 133 in Logan County. I-55 and MP 133 are temporarily shut down in addition to Route 66.
ISP SWAT is on scene and crisis negotiations officers are en route.
