BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan University has named the past president of a college in Ohio as its interim president.
Georgia Nugent will lead Illinois Wesleyan during the upcoming academic year as the university conducts a national search. Nugent was president of Kenyon College for 10 years and later served as interim president of the College of Wooster in 2015-16. She is a senior fellow at the Council of Independent Colleges. Nugent earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton and a doctorate from Cornell.
Nugent will not be considered for the IWU position at her request. Eric Jensen retired from the IWU presidency at the end of May and former president Richard Wilson has been serving as acting president since then.
