PEKIN – An area man is dead after a Wednesday morning crash in rural South Pekin.
Officials were first called to the intersection of Rt. 29 and Main St. at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday.
A 42-year-old Pekin man was found entrapped in a vehicle.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office said the man was pronounced deceased at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center after a two-vehicle accident. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the deceased as Chad Williams, 42, of Pekin. Williams had a rapid decline in his condition while being treated at the hospital, and despite aggressive resuscitation efforts, was pronounced deceased at 9:37 a.m.
The occupants of the second vehicle received minor injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing.
