CLINTON – Burglars hit a rural Clinton home twice in two days until their arrests on Friday, according to DeWitt County Sheriff’s Police.

Sheriff Mike Walker reported four people are jailed after more than 30 items, including many all-terrain vehicles, were stolen from a residence at 12345 Middle Creek Road.

The first break-in happened Thursday, then a neighbor called police about 3:30 a.m. Friday to say burglars had returned to the same place, and was able to provide authorities with a description of the getaway vehicle using video surveillance from a home security system.

Police arrested 33-year old Richard Memmott, 33, Nicole Moore, 32, and Ashley Barry, 29, all from Clinton, and Robert Moore, 27, of Kenney.

The suspects are accused of stealing ATV’s, scooters, tools, and other items recovered when several police agencies executed a search warrant in two out-buildings on Airport Road in Clinton.

Police said they recovered other stolen property, and are still investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office at 217-935-3196 or DeWitt County Crime Stoppers at 217-935-9438.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
