PONTIAC – Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused a fire that destroyed two buildings in Downtown Pontiac over the weekend.
State Fire Marshal spokesperson JC Fultz said the investigation is ongoing for Saturday’s fire that started in a Wright’s Furniture warehouse, located on East Madison Street.
Pontiac Fire Chief Jacob Campbell said no dollar estimate of damage has been determined.
Wright’s Furniture posted on Facebook Tuesday it has reopened for business.
“The people in the community have been very supportive and obviously everyone involved in dealing with the fire have been very helpful and kind,” said co-owner Gary Wright.
Wright said they were fortunate the blaze only resulted in the loss of one warehouse. The store has two other storage facilities, plus its showroom. He said it’s undetermined if they’ll rebuild the destroyed warehouse.
The blaze also completely destroyed neighboring Duffy Ambulance Service. Duffy has temporarily moved its headquarters to Central Truck and Ag on Industrial Court in Pontiac.
