Brady seeking re-election in 105th District

BLOOMINGTON – State Rep. Dan Brady has announced he will seek re-election for his seat in the 105th District.

Brady (R-Bloomington) has served the 105th District since 2001. He’s currently the Deputy Republican Leader in the Illinois House.

“Our campaign will focus on my legislative record of getting results and standing up for our district’s values,” said Brady in a news release. “I am committed to making sure our budget stays balanced, we continue to invest in education, pursue further job-creating business reforms, get our skyrocketing property taxes under control, and enact good government reforms to make state government work for the people of Illinois.”

Brady highlighted the capital bill, which will provide $160 million for Illinois State University.

Brady will face a GOP primary challenge from David Paul Blumenshine. Brady defeated Blumenshine in the 2018 primary, then defeated Democrat Ben Webb in the general election.

The GOP primary winner will face Democratic challenger and Normal Town Council member Chemberly Cummings in the 2020 election.

The 105th District covers all of Normal, Bloomington’s east side, and eastern McLean County. Parts of Livingston County, including Fairbury, are also in the 105th District.
