For those of you who attended and supported the Old House Society’s June 13 annual tour of homes, thank you very much.
Now, if you’re ready for another summertime treat hosted by the Old House Society, come to Franklin Park tonight at 6:00 for an old fashioned ice cream social and then stay for the Community Concert Band which starts playing at 7:00.
The Society will provide all the usual goodies, including a variety of cakes, pies and cookies, and of course ice cream! Cold drinks are also available to wash it all down.
What better place than the oldest public park in Bloomington to host such an event, surrounded by some of the best preserved and maintained homes in all the area.
Stroll around after your ice cream and cake and gaze at the homes of a former Vice President of the United States and a former Governor of Illinois, and many, many other beautiful homes on all sides of the park. These homes aren’t open to the public, but they still are a visual treat to behold.
Franklin Park is bordered by Prairie and McLean streets on the west and east, and Chestnut and Walnut streets on the south and north sides of the park.
I hope to see all of you there tonight!
