BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington Democrat has announced his candidacy for McLean County Circuit Clerk.
Erik Rankin, a 20-year administrator at Illinois State University, will try to unseat Republican Don Everhart.
“After meeting with numerous attorneys, paralegals and citizens that use the office of
Circuit Clerk on a daily basis, I am convinced that the office needs new leadership and a different direction,” said Rankin in a news release Monday. “With a renewed focus on customer service and better use of technology, the Circuit Clerk can better serve the residents of McLean County.”
Rankin served on the McLean County Board for 10 years and is a former Vice Chair of the Justice Committee.
“I believe that my experience as an administrator and organizer can provide the leadership the Circuit Clerk’s office needs to bring the department into the 21st century,” said Rankin.
Rankin is currently the Chair of the McLean County Democratic Party and an at-large member of the Executive Committee of the Illinois Democratic County Chairs Association.
