SPRINGFIELD – Loyola University’s basketball success meant more than a little publicity for a nun.
State Rep. Chris Welch (D-Hillside) says it brought the university $300 million in merchandising and Coach Porter Moser a jackpot contract.
The players? Not so much.
That’s why Welch – a former Northwestern baseball player – has introduced a bill which would allow athletes to profit from the use of their names, images, and likenesses.
California already does this.
Gov. Pritzker supports the bill.
