Democrats announce 8th candidate for McLean County Board

BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington Democrat has announced his candidacy for the McLean County Board.

Ryan “RJ” McCracken will run for the District 3 seat, currently held by Republican George Wendt. District 3 covers southwest parts of Bloomington and rural McLean County.

“I’m running because in a rather turbulent time in American politics, I believe the level headed minds of the world need to be able to discuss and work through our problems rather than seek to divide us further,” said McCracken in a news release Tuesday.

McCracken said he comes from an active Republican background, having worked on the campaign for retired Sen. Mark Kirk.  He was also the campaign manager for Jeff Crabill’s successful election bid for Bloomington City Council.

He currently works as the events director for Let’s Party Rental and serves on the Bloomington Cultural Commission.

McCracken is the eighth Democratic candidate to announce a run for county board.
