McIntyre announces re-election bid for McLean County Board

NORMAL – McLean County Board chair John McIntyre announced Thursday he’s seeking re-election.

Representing District 5, which covers parts of northeast Normal, McIntyre was elected as board chair in 2016 after serving eight years as a board member.

“I want to continue my efforts to represent all of the citizens of McLean County and my constituents in District 5 and to provide good, cost-efficient and cost-effective services,” said McIntyre in a news release.

McIntyre, a Republican, said he’s proud of the county board and what has been accomplished during his tenure. He sites the overall financial health of the county, despite challenges like unfunded mandates and increased costs.

“I believe in good governance and finding common ground,” McIntyre said. “Our future in good local government should be not about politics, but about good legislation to make the best decisions to serve all of the residents of this county.”

McIntrye also notes chairing the mental health advisory committee and co-writing the McLean County Mental Health Action Plan which helped construct the Law and Justice Center’s new jail.

Democrat Rachael Lund will challenge McIntyre for the District 5 seat.
