NORMAL – The second annual Birds Give Back – 1 Day for Change at Illinois State University surpassed its goal by receiving 2,188 gifts for a total of $1,118,734.
This year the ISU Athletics Department received 262 gifts for a total of $57,615. The School of Communication had 178 gifts bringing in a total of $37,925. That beat last year’s total of about $18,000, according to SOC Director Dr. Steve Hunt.
ISU moved away from Giving Tuesday to focus on Birds Give Back, according to Jillian Nelson, Senior Director of Annual Giving. Birds Give Back takes place during Redbird Philanthropy Week, a week long emphasis on how private support creates a university on the rise.
