BLOOMINGTON – For the second day in a row, McLean County Health officials announce no new cases of COVID-19.

“We are at a plateau with our new cases, you’ve noticed that we’ve had one new case or no new cases the last few days, that is a good thing,” McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight said. “However, I’m still very hesitant to say that we are on the other side of this, with the measures we have in place, social distancing, people staying home, those are definitely helping us.”

Officials say that of the 86 cases, 74 have recovered, and eight remain in home isolation.

There have been three deaths in the county.

Additionally, Health officials say that of the 86 cases, 61.6% are female, and 38.4% are male.

During his daily press briefing, Gov. Pritzer announced 2,049 new cases of COVID-19 with 96 additional deaths moving the statewide total to 36,108 cases and 1,565 deaths.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
