Community-based testing sites now open to all

BLOOMINGTON – The state’s COVID-19 community-based testing sites are now open to anyone regardless of symptoms or other criteria.

No appointment, doctor referral, or insurance is needed at state operated drive-thru sites and testing is available at no cost, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The IDPH is recommending anyone who has recently been part of a mass gathering, including rallies and protests over the past week, get tested for coronavirus.

The IDPH has 11 testings sites around the state, including Bloomington, Peoria and Champaign. Tests at each site are available while daily supplies last.

The testing site in Bloomington administered 73 tests on Wednesday, according to the McLean County Emergency Management Agency.
