BPD arrest man on illegal weapon charges

BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old on illegal weapons charges.

Police said Terry D. Jenkins, of Bloomington, was arrested Monday after officers were called to the 800 block of E. Washington St. for a report of an armed male. Officers arrived to find a large fight in progress and arrested Jenkins after he ran from police.

Police recovered a handgun which had its serial number taken off. Jenkins is being charged with unlawful use of a weapon/possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, aggravated battery, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Jenkins was taken to the McLean County Jail.
