MCHD announces 10 new COVID-19 cases; county total over 300 cases

BLOOMINGTON – With local health officials announcing ten new Coronavirus cases, the county total now stands at over 300 cases.

The county currently has 38 individuals isolating at home with one individual hospitalized.

Officials report that 255 individuals have been released from isolation.

“There have been 15 COVID-19 related deaths in McLean County. The most recently reported death was part of the Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center outbreak last month,” McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight said in a news release. “The McLean County Health Department was notified yesterday that the IDPH had classified the death from last month as COVID-related.”

More than 15,400 tests have resulted in a positivity rate of 2.0%.

“With more openings in our community and more movement of people, we see more risk of exposure and opportunities for transmission of the virus,” McKnight added. “To help control the spread of COVID-19, remember to wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear a face covering.”

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 1,317 new cases of COVID-19, with 25 additional deaths.

The statewide totals stand at 151,767 cases and 7,144 deaths.
