NORMAL – Chris Koos Wednesday announced he will seek another term as mayor of Normal.
“As mayor, with the shared vision of the Normal Town Council and the support of the citizens of the Town of Normal, I have had the opportunity over these many years to help create the new and not so Normal community we live in today,” said Koos in a news release. “It has been a challenging, yet rewarding path.”
Koos has been mayor since 2003, beating Marc Tiritilli by 11 votes in the last mayoral election. Tiritilli on Tuesday announced he will run again next year.

Meanwhile, A.J. Zimmerman, current chairman of the Normal Planning Commission, said he will run next spring for a seat on the Normal Town Council.
Zimmerman has lived in Normal the past 12-years. He was raised in Nevada and worked as a prosecutor in Phoenix, Arizona.
Our news partner HOI ABC reports there are three council seats that will be up for election April 6. Incumbent council members Chemberly Cummings, Kevin McCarthy, and Scott Preston have not announced whether they will run for reelection. Cummings is on the ballot this year as the Democratic candidate for the State Representative in the 105th Legislative District. Her opponent is Republican incumbent Dan Brady.
Candidates have until November 23 to file their nominating petitions.
