NORMAL – A leader at Heartland Community College who passed away last week will be celebrated and remembered Friday night.

A celebration of life for Gregg Chadwick will be held from 2-6 p.m. at Heartland’s campus in Normal, according to HCC public information director Steve Fast.

“Gregg was such an important person for the growth of Heartland Community College,” Fast told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “It has been very emotional for the Heartland community to get this news.”

Chadwick was chair of the Heartland Board of Trustees and served on the board for 18 years. He joined MarcFirst as COO in 2018 and served as a member of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation Board of Directors.

Fast said those who attend the celebration of life should follow social distancing guidelines and wear a face covering.

More information about the service is available here.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
