BLOOMINGTON – The attorney representing a man accused of a triple murder in the Twin-Cities two years ago told a judge Wednesday that the defense is ready for trial.

Sydney Mays, 24, wants the judge instead of a jury to decide his fate.

The trial before McLean County Judge Casey Costigan is set to begin January 25 and is expected to last eight days.

Mays is charged with 10 counts of murder for the shooting deaths of Juan Carlos-Perez-Macedo, Corey Jackson, Nathaniel Pena. Mays is also charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm for gravely wounding Pena’s young son.

The shooting happened June 18, 2018 in an apartment at 311 Riley Drive on Bloomington’s east side.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for December 16.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
