IDPH reports 4,942 new COVID cases, highest single-day total

SPRINGFIELD – COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Illinois as public health officials Thursday reported the highest single-day total since the start of the pandemic.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 4,942 new cases of coronavirus and 44 additional deaths. The brings the totals to 360,159 cases and 9,387 deaths.

The state’s rolling positivity rate is now 5.7%. IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike continues to plead with the public to wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands and get your flu shot.
