CHICAGO – Reverend Corey Brooks, senior pastor at the New Beginnings Church in Chicago, has a track record of affecting positive change in his community.

That’s one of several reasons the Rauner administration says it’s appointing Brooks to the 31-thousand dollar a year spot on the Illinois Tollway Board. Brooks was one of several prominent African Americans courting the black vote in 2014 over Pat Quinn, noting Illinois Democrats haven’t done much to help their community.

Brooks has a law degree and graduate degrees from seminary schools, but his transportation experience is unclear.

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
