BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington City Council member Mboka Mwilambwe has decided not to seek reelection this spring.

Mwilambwe has served Ward 3, which covers east Bloomington, since 2011 and said he made the decision “after careful consideration.”

“I look forward to serving out the remainder of my term and responding to the needs of Ward 3 residents,” Mwilambwe said in a news release Sunday.

He graduated from Illinois State University and has been employed at the university since 1997.

Odd numbered council seats and the position of mayor are up for election this April.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
