WASHINGTON – Thousands of violent protesters stormed the Capitol on Wednesday as Congress was in session to count the Electoral College vote confirming the 2020 election for President-elect Joe Biden.
U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) spoke with CBS News.
.@SenDuckworth: "This is Donald Trump's fault. He is truly responsible…I never in my entire adult life — serving first in the Army and now in the legislative branch — would imagine that it is a president of the United States of America who would be the one to incite violence" pic.twitter.com/iiS7v5Bu6m

“It is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on domestic soil,” Duckworth said.
Duckworth told CBS News that a staff member grabbed the electoral vote ballots before evacuation. Police declared the Capitol secure about four hours after the incident.
In a phone interview with @CBSNews, @SenDuckworthsays, a "Quick-thinking" Senate aide seized copies of the #ElectoralCollege certificates before they all evacuated the chamber. #CapitolProtests #CongresLockdown
