SPRINGFIELD – 2020 was a year to forget for many of us, though Illinois farmers had a good year. That’s according to the final yield report from the USDA’s crop reporting service.
Illinois corn was 192 bushels per acre, eleven more than last year. Production was 2.13 billion bushels, up fifteen percent from 2019, making Illinois second to Iowa.
Soybeans were 59 bushels per acre, up five from 2019. Soybean production was 605 million bushels, up fourteen percent from 2019, making Illinois again Number One in soybeans.
