BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Hy-Vee will begin offering COVID-19 rapid antibody testing next week.

The rapid antibody test is available for patients who wish to learn if they have been previously infected with COVID-19 and are not currently experiencing symptoms. Patients will receive same day test results in as few as 15 minutes, according to a news release.

The rapid antibody test does not show if a patient has a current infection, because it can take one to three weeks after infection to make antibodies. The rapid antibody test cannot be used to diagnose current infection. The test uses a finger stick to collect a small blood sample, which is administered by a Hy-Vee Pharmacy team member. After testing is complete, results will be sent to the patient via email that same day.

Antibody testing will start Jan. 18 and it costs $25. Patients must register ahead of time through www.hy-vee.com/covidtesting.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
