BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington-Normal Human Relations Commissions held their 45th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon Saturday.
During the virtual event, they announced their award winners for members of the community who most exemplify the character of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Aditi Sharma is one of three high school aged recipients who were recognized for their impact on their schools and community.
Normal Community High School senior, Sharma leads the “Not Our School” chapter and founded the Inclusive Education Coalition.
“It just felt really nice to have that honored,” said Sharma. “I really see the value in youth in our community working to create change and make our community more safe and inclusive for everyone.”
Sharma’s goal is to promote inclusive education and unity for students of all races and says you are never to young to use your voice and make a change.
