Corn Belt Energy Rate 11 interrupt canceled for Thursday

BLOOMINGTON – Due to more rain in the forecast Thursday, Corn Belt Energy has decided to not interrupt electrical service for Rate 11 customers.

Corn Belt was planning a shut off in power for those customers Thursday, but due to the expected wet conditions, it caused some concerns for sump pumps and the recent flooding. Corn Belt says the test will be rescheduled for later this summer.

Members who are enrolled in the Rate 11 program allow Corn Belt to interrupt power to their meter during a few electric peak periods from June 1 through September 30. In exchange, those customers receive a lower energy rate.

More than 2,200 McLean County residents are enrolled in Corn Belt’s rate 11 plan.
