SPRINGFIELD – Gov. JB Pritzker says he’s deeply concerned about the abortion law passed in Texas.
Texas now has one of the most restrictive laws in the country, banning abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy.
“First, I would say, shame on those Texas lawmakers for taking away not just women’s rights, but women’s health. Banning abortion does not keep women safe.”
The Governor says he will work to protect rights in Illinois as a divided U.S. Supreme Court refused to block enforcement of the law.
“And I am very concerned and focused on making sure that here in Illinois, we are a beacon of hope for women who need reproductive health. And we’re seeing that people in states like Missouri have had to come across the board just to see a Doctor, for goodness sakes.”
The Texas law is one of the most restrictive in the nation.
