Lexington woman killed on I-55 after being hit by semi

MCLEAN COUNTY – A Lexington woman is dead after being hit by a semi-truck tractor on Interstate 55 Sunday.

According to a news release, Wendy Haase, 46, of Lexington, attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck tractor.

Illinois State Police report David Hendrix, 31 of Stevensville, Montana, was driving northbound on I-55 near mile marker 173 in the right lane.

Police say around 4:38, Haase attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by the semi while outside her vehicle.

Haase was transported to a local area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Hendrix was uninjured in the crash.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
