MCHD reports four COVID-related deaths as twin-city hospitals near capacity

BLOOMINGTON – Four more McLean County residents have died from COVID-19 complications as hospital beds in the twin-cities near capacity.

Officials report the recent deaths are two males in their 60’s, one male in his 70’s, who were not associated with long-term care facilities, and a male in his 80’s who was associated with a long-term care facility.

There have been 249 COIVID-related deaths in the county.

Additionally, health officials report 28 McLean County residents are hospitalized due to the virus, and four people outside the county are in twin-city hospitals.

McLean County Public Affairs Coordinator Marianne Manko reports 92% of ICU beds are in use, and 93% of total beds are in use.

Officials also report 136 new cases of the virus since Friday.

The county’s cumulative positivity rate remained steady at 4.7%, while the rolling 7-day positivity rate dropped to 3.4% from 4.1%.

Health officials also report 181,342 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the county, and 52.52% of the county’s population is fully vaccinated.

McLean county’s vaccine rate is just below the state average of 53.44% fully vaccinated.
