BLOOMINGTON – A dirt bike driver remains behind bars in McLean County after Bloomington Police say the driver allegedly had a loaded gun.

On Saturday, BPD identified a red dirt bike on the roadway near Rowe and IAA Drive. Police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the driver, but the driver fled from police.

After an investigation, authorities found the dirt bike in the 300 block of Riley Drive, where they met with the dirt bike owner.

Police say the owner was driving the dirt bike the first time but was not the driver when the driver fled from police the second time.

However, police say the dirt bike owner had two warrants, one McLean County warrant for expired driver’s license and one out of Lake County, Indiana, for possession of an altered weapon.

As authorities put the driver in handcuffs, they allegedly located a loaded firearm, which the owner did not have a FOID license.

Additionally, as officers handcuffed the dirt bike owner, police say they allegedly attempted to flee, but officers captured the owner.

Police say the dirt bike driver was charged with one count of resisting arrest, one count of possession of a firearm, one count of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of driving a motorcycle on a roadway, and one count of operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Police did not disclose the name of the dirt bike owner, and no bond information was available.
