NORMAL – Employees at the government-run McLean County Nursing Home will be paid a bonus of up to $1,000 for receiving the COVID-19 vaccination.
Approximately 90 people work at the nursing home, and according to Illinois Department of Public Health data, 61.54% of the workers are fully vaccinated and 84.15% of the nursing home’s residents are fully vaccinated.
Interim County Administrator Cassy Taylor told our news partner HOI ABC the incentives will range between $500 and $1,000 depending on workers’ job status, with full-time employees receiving a larger bonus.
The money is coming from state’s portion of the American Rescue Plan’s payments to long-term care providers. The McLean County Nursing Home is receiving just over $113,000.
The county board last week approved using the money as incentive for more workers to receive the COVID shots.
