NORMAL – Heartland Community College saw its enrollment go up by 2.5% with an increase in new undergrad students for the 2021-2022 school year.
Heartland’s overall enrollment for 2021 is 4,436, according to a news release Tuesday. The enrollment of 1,425 new students returned Heartland to pre-pandemic numbers.
“Community colleges across the nation and in Illinois continue struggle with the impact the pandemic has had on enrollment; however, what is encouraging about our numbers at Heartland this Fall is our growth in new students. This bodes well for the future,” said Sarah Diel-Hunt, Vice President, Enrollment and Student Services.
The college also saw an 18 percent increase of students returning to Heartland after an absence of one or more semesters away.
