MCHD reports five new COVID-related deaths; 81 new cases since Friday

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department reports five more residents have died from COVID-19, along with 81 new virus cases since Friday.

County health officials report the latest deaths to include one female in her 40’s, one female in her 60’s, two females in their 70’s, and one male in his 80’s. Health officials report none of the recent deaths are associated with long-term care facilities.

Health officials also report 26 McLean County residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19, while 24 people are hospitalized in the county with COVID-19.

At last count, 303 people are isolating at home, while 21,692 people have been released from isolation and are considered recovered.

Authorities report the county’s cumulative positivity rate remained steady at 4.4%, while the rolling 7-day positivity rate decreased to 2.1% from 2.7% on Friday.

According to a news release, 77% of ICU beds and 87% of the county’s total hospital beds are in use.

Local health officials also report 187,797 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the county, and 54.35% of the population is fully vaccinated.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 55.53% of Illinois residents are fully vaccinated.
