Brady continues to weigh options for statewide office

BLOOMINGTON – A local lawmaker has been weighing his options the last few months about a run for statewide office.

State Rep. Dan Brady (R-Bloomington) has been exploring the idea of running for Illinois Secretary of State. Current Secretary of State Jesse White, a Democrat, has held the office since 1998, but he said he’s not seeking a seventh term next year.

Brady told WJBC’s Scott Miller there are a few factors going into his decision.

“Looking at a final decision for others that may be doing something different in the congressional maps is a concern,” said Brady. “The other area is still some personal side of things with family and business. Then we will be ready to come up with a decision here very shortly.”

Brady says that should come before Thanksgiving.

The Bloomington Republican has served in the general assembly since 2001, and is the second highest-ranking Republican in the House where he is Deputy House Republican Leader. Brady is a funeral director in Bloomington-Normal, and a former McLean County Coroner.
