SHIRLEY – No kids were injured but the bus driver suffered minor injuries after a car struck a Heyworth school bus Friday morning in Shirley.
The McLean County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of 1155 East Rd. and 850 North. Authorities say a passenger car travelling north bound disregarded a stop sign and hit the bus. The bus rolled over on its side and came to rest in the ditch, according to a news release.
Five kids and the driver were on the bus. Police say the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. All five students were evaluated on scene and released to their parents with no reported injuries.
Authorities say the driver of the car was uninjured.
The incident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
