NORMAL – A woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after she was hit by a car near the Illinois State University campus in Normal.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. Monday. Normal Police said the 23-year old woman was crossing with two other people on West College Avenue, near Kingsley Junior High School and Redbird Arena.
The woman was transported to Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. Her condition is not known.
The car’s driver was a 76-year old woman, according to police. They said she stopped after the accident and cooperated with authorities.
The McLean County accident reconstruction team, composed of officers from Normal, Bloomington, and the sheriff’s office, were investigating what happened.
