BLOOMINGTON – More than two dozen guns are missing after a Sunday morning burglary in Bloomington.
Bloomington Police say 25 guns were stolen from ‘Smiley’s Sports Shop’ just after 5:30 a.m.. That includes 24 pistols and one rifle. Those guns were not locked up well enough, according to police. They also say this store has been broken into before.
Just under an hour earlier, a second Bloomington store also suffered a break-in. Guns at ‘Midwest Exchange’ were all locked in a safe, and no guns were stolen.
Police suspect the two burglaries might be related, based on the close timing of the incidents. However, there is no other evidence on that possible connection.
There is no suspect information, and an investigation is ongoing.
