SPRINGFIELD – It’s the same advice from Illinois Department of Public Health director Dr. Ngozi Ezike: get your shots, get your booster, wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, stay home if you are sick.
“We do continue to battle delta. We have omicron quickly taking over, and omicron spreads much, much quicker,” said Ezike. “Although initial information indicates omicron not cause as severe illness as deltz, we are not – we are not – seeing fewer people in the hospital.”
In fact, Illinois has hit a covid high in hospitalizations – 6,294.
Ezike and Gov. JB Pritzker held a news conference in Chicago Monday afternoon.
