SPRINGFIELD – The governor’s office suggests the latest public service campaign – to get people “off the fence” and into a vaccine clinic – may be working, as some Illinoisans are now getting a covid vaccine for the first time.
At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, public health director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said you need to protect yourself.
“Imagine yourself as one of the nurses or the doctors that’s going into the umpteenth patient room to treat a person for something that was preventable.”
Ezike said the stress is driving some health care workers out of the profession.
The state smashed its previous record by a thousand – with now more than 7,100d people hospitalized for covid.
