BLOOMINGTON – Multiple pets are dead after a fire Sunday afternoon on the city’s south side, according to the Bloomington Fire Department.
Firefighters were called at 1:50 p.m. to the 1300 block of South Oak Street. Crews encountered thick smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.
Authorities say one resident was able to escape the home uninjured and two other residents were not home at the time of the incident.
According to a BFD Facebook post, several pets died in the blaze. Authorities did not say how many or what kind of animals.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. An estimate of damage is not available.
