BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man remains behind bars on multiple weapon charges as Police say he played a role in a shooting over the weekend.
According to a news release, Police responded to the 500 block of N. Main St. around 2:00 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
Once on the scene, officers learned a shooting occurred during a fight, and a tavern window in the 600 block of N. Main St. was damaged from gunfire.
Police say during an investigation, officers learned a vehicle fled the scene after the shooting. In addition, investigators say they learned that the car passenger that fled had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
The passenger with the gunshot wounds was escorted to the emergency room for treatment.
Police say while the passenger was being treated for a gunshot wound, Javares Hudson, 21, of Bloomington, was allegedly attempting to destroy a “multi-piece auto sear.” Police say the weapon is a “fully automatic switch kit” that can convert a firearm into an automatic weapon.
Police charged Hudson with Unlawful Use of a Weapon via a machine gun and Unlawful use of an automatic weapon.
Bond for Hudson was set at $50,000 cash.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and no other arrests have been made.
