SPRINGFIELD – Illinois State Police are launching a new expressway shooting dashboard.

The dashboard shows current data as well as data from the past couple of years, regarding where expressway shootings occurred. ISP Major Matt Gainer says the new feature also includes the date and time of the incident and whether there were any injuries or deaths.

“It will serve as a tool to the general public, community stakeholders, our traffic safety partners, and other first responders to help us make decisions in how we fight against these types of crimes,” said Gainer.

The dashboard is available on ISP’s website by clicking on “violence reduction.”

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
