BLOOMINGTON – A 36-year old man is facing multiple felony charges in McLean County after investigators say he allegedly hit an Illinois State Police squad car while intoxicated.
On Saturday, police say Douglas Biddle allegedly struck a stationary ISP squad car while the trooper was waiting to turn from the southbound veteran’s parkway onto east empire.
According to court documents, the trooper spoke with Biddle and observed an odor of alcohol.
When speaking with the passenger of the vehicle, the passenger said they were previously at a bar where the defendant consumed a few beers prior to driving.
An arrest affidavit reports Biddle was transported to a local hospital, where he was later arrested for driving while under the influence.
While under arrest, officers asked Biddle for a breath sample, but he allegedly refused.
Police say they obtained a search warrant for Biddle’s breath, but Bidle refused.
Authorities say when approached by a nurse, Biddle said he would have to be held down to obtain the sample.
Prosecutors charged Biddle with three class four felony charges of obstruction of justice, one count of driving under the influence, one count of expired registration, and no insurance.
A McLean County judge set Biddle’s bond at $3,000.
